Ho Ho Ho for Weddings

Posted by sideshowjudy on 23rd March 2008

This is my third wedding in the last 12 months and boy, I am lucky. The last one took place at the full of shizzle Fullerton and this weekend, I had the pleasure of attending Glyn and Yukie’s bash at the historical Raffles Hotel. Weddings can be tiring, especially ones that last the entire weekend, result in over-drinking, a twisted neck from weird dancing mooves and have 50 people travel in from over 11 countries. That, is what I call a real party.

Renhao and date

So, Glyn had some great anecdotes around the 4 pillers of happiness. First piller being an American salary, Chinese food, British home and…a Japanese wife. Nice…i definitely agree on the Chinese food bit. Yums!

Sneaking one with the bride, which is of course, the WHOLE point to going to a wedding.

Torrential rain aside, which was making me starting to remember Guns n’ Roses November Rain video, with Stephanie Seymour’s mini skirt wedding dress, and thigh corsage… The courtyard wedding reception was lovely, or that could have been the many glasses of champagne. Ok, could have been both.

The best part about weddings have to be the "How we met photograph story", usually put together on some kind of powerpoint or movie software. I am a loser for such scenes of touching moments. I would not survive in a kodak world, because i would just be constantly crying.

The best thing about weddings…is sharing in someone else’s happiness and bliss. And of course the amount of alcohal ingested has made me forget that I sprained my neck and have been waddling like a weird 80’s robot all day. niah hah!

You got a concept for time?

Posted by sideshowjudy on 5th March 2008

So, how busy can life get? Pretty damn busy. It is at this very moment (do I dare wordplay?), period, phase, day, week, month, nanosecond that I truely appreciate and understand the Theory of Relativity. Einstein was a genius, but I am not the first nor last to say that.

When you count your life in months, that’s a pretty laid-back existence (and really nice). For instance, to be able to say, "Yeah, I am waiting for that boat race to happen next month." or "Nothing much going on, just a holiday next month." Now, that’s sweet, because one can think of life and existence in largish chunks, with a milestone occuring every 2 months or so and no volatility in between. Life gets a bit tighter when one starts listing out activities in weeks or days….like "Yeah, I have a meeting this week, a ball next weekend and the plumber coming in the day after." Busy? Yes, but not deadening.

And then, there is where I am now, where I see life passing, not in days, but in minutes, and sometimes seconds. A typical day is no longer 24 hours, its 1,440 minutes, which just feels a lot LONGER, if u ask me. The physical 1,440 minutes while accurate and correct, is relatively longer than 24 hours and in fact, feels more like 2,000 minutes. At certain times, the minutes make more sense to be counted as seconds, or milliseconds, as I try to rush that last pitch out, or am being badgered by lawyers, bosses, clients on why a particular analysis takes that long. And what is left at the end of the day is a want for more caffeine, so I don’t slump over and drool dead at my desk. And do i now appreciate the Theory of Relativity more than ever?

Yes. Yes. Yes.
