Yes, the next best thing doesn’t happen for QUITE A WHILE.
After 5 gigs in the last 2 weeks - I gotta say, I am looking fwd to a good club nite. And, tonite is Indie night at the university. I love it how indie nights abound in UK. The whole mash-up sound mixing indie, 80;s synth is alive and kicking here. God Bless The UK (minus potatoes and bad coffee - ugh)
Next good concerts would be The Delays in March (do I fly up here from France), Belle and Sebastian, Jack Johnson, Goldfrapp…all the good stuff happens in the UK. France has like…nothing. It has loads of opera and French white-collar pop music that is so synthesized. It’s like the Yanni meets Kitaro. UGHS…
all in all, life doesnt get better than this (minus potatoes and bad coffee)…

The thought of blogging really turned me off, but since I like free things, I also appreciate free blog space. And it’s a good way to record the nonsense that happens to me. So as to know that the aliens REALLY DID GET ME.
HAH! What a show! Because I am writing this, it must certainly be true…
Booked my tickets to watch Franz Ferdinand down in Manchester. It was excellent, for 25 quid, I got to watch The Rakes and The Editors live too, with FF headlining the nite. Totally awesome gig. The Rakes started out to a lukewarm audience but they finished off with 22 Grand Job (my fave tune) and by then, the audience was pretty pumped. Some dude in the stands had a giant blow-up penis, which he shoke incessantly in approval. They played all the songs on their latest album and it probably made a strong 30 minute set.
The Editors were next. The singer reminds me of Chris Martin - same intense look, crazy stare and kinda bald/handsome, but he sounds like the singer of Interpol. Really cool, i hadnt heard them before but all the songs kicked ass. Very dark and harmonius - kind of music you play at night.
FF had their own red and black set. Their tour tees were going for 25 pounds and I was too broke to buy one so I had to hold back from whipping out the good ole’ credit card. Albeit, it was the smelly teens and beer men that drove me away from the merch counter. Not only did they sell tees, there were FF scarves, FF underpants, badges and posters. It was very "Where’s Wally". So yes, FF had a cool ass red and black stage, with a white runway - very The Beatles and The Monkees. Alex burst onto stage in the skinnest of pants. Actually, all of them had very tiny pants and pointy shoes, with Monkees hair. What’s going on? 60’s hair, 80’s punk dressing, 70’s drug use??? Hmmm…Well, hearing The Fallen and Do You Want To was beyond cool. The band started out Do You Want To in a straight line, did some harmony feet shuffling and guitar sychronization moves and started belting out the opening lines…cerebral! Somewhere in the middle of the show, Alex jumps onto the bass drum and stands there, strutting and playing his guitar. Oh, and did I mention that they only use 1 guitar gadget??
NIck took some vid with his phone but am wondering how I get it transferred online. will do so when the technology presents itself…
